The Asociacion Pro Arte y Cultura (APAC) started its activities in the Santa Cruz region in 1994. The association brought together professionals with recognised experience in the cultural sector. These professionals organized activities to promote the culture of the Chiquitos region. The activities of APAC have an impact on the people of the region of Grand Chiquitania, Bolivia and Latin America. From its inception APAC has been a network of professionals pooling together in the advancement of arts and culture with an international outreach. Its success can be attributed to its grassroots acceptance and qualities as well. The festivals have grown and gained regional recognition. APAC has realised a series of publications on the musical heritage of the indigenous people of Chiquitos and Beni therefore making sure that the heritage is properly conserved and disseminated. Indigenous communities conserved more than 10.000 pages of original scores that make up the heritage of the period before the Jesuits were expulsed from Latin America in 1767. Through scientific meetings and the festivals this music has become known and can now be performed. APAC and its initiators received the Prince Claus Award in 2002, along with other international awards and recognitions. Period APAC, Network Partner from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2007. They receive an amount of 185,000 Euros for this period of three years.
